What Entry Fees Covers

Your entry fee goes straight into delivering a safe, properly-run, high-quality race day experience. Here’s what it helps pay for:

  • Official race administration & sanctioning requirements (including compliance and race-day governance)

  • Temporary licences fees goes to CGA/ASA

  • 10% of every race entry is paid to CGA as levy

  • 5% paid to entry system supplier.

  • Route safety & control: JMPD, marshals, traffic support, directional signage, cones/barriers

  • Medical support & emergency response readiness along the route and at finish

  • Venue hire

  • Hydration / water points

  • Race-day operations: venue logistics, start/finish, toilets, waste management, radio comms

  • Timing & results: accurate finish results and post-race reporting

  • Race bib & race number processing

  • Event staffing & production to keep the day running smoothly and professionally

In short: your entry fee buys you a properly managed race — not just a route. It covers the details that make your run safe, seamless, and worth it.

WOMEN’S HALF RACE

ENTRY WAIVER, ASSUMPTION OF RISK & INDEMNITY

By entering and/or participating in the Women’s Half Race (the “Event”), I confirm that:

  1. Voluntary participation & fitness
I am entering voluntarily and declare that I am medically and physically fit to participate. I accept full responsibility for my own health, conditioning, and ability to complete the distance I have entered.

  2. Assumption of risk
I understand and accept that road running and mass participation events involve inherent risks, including (but not limited to) slips, falls, collisions, traffic-related hazards, uneven surfaces, weather conditions, dehydration, heat illness, equipment failure, and serious injury, illness, or death. I knowingly and willingly assume all such risks.

  3. Release of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, I release and discharge the Event organiser(s), Distance Run Club, Kindred Sports (where applicable), Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA), Athletics South Africa (ASA), the City of Johannesburg, venue owners/landlords, route authorities, marshals, medical providers, volunteers, sponsors, suppliers, and all their respective directors, employees, contractors, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims arising from my participation in the Event, including claims arising from negligence, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.

  4. Indemnity
I indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties against any loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense (including legal costs) that may arise from or relate to my participation, my actions or omissions, or any breach of this waiver.

  5. Personal property
I participate at my own risk and am responsible for my personal belongings. The Released Parties are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to property.

  6. Rules & instructions
I agree to comply with all Event rules, ASA/CGA regulations, cut-off times, and all instructions given by Event officials, marshals, security, traffic officers, and medical staff. I understand that failure to comply may result in disqualification and/or removal from the course for safety reasons, without refund.

  7. Medical treatment
If I require medical attention, I authorise Event medical personnel to provide first aid and/or arrange emergency treatment and transport. I accept responsibility for any associated costs not covered by the Event.

  8. Use of image & media
I consent to photographs, video, and audio recordings taken during the Event being used by the organisers and sponsors for legitimate Event-related marketing, media, and promotional purposes, without compensation.

  9. Entry conditions
I understand that entry fees are generally non-refundable, and that the Event may be altered, delayed, stopped, or cancelled due to safety, weather, force majeure, or instructions from authorities. Where refunds are not possible, the organisers may offer alternatives at their discretion (e.g., deferral/transfer/credit), subject to the Event’s published policies.

  10. Agreement
I have read and understood this waiver. By submitting my entry (and/or ticking the acceptance box), I confirm that it is binding on me, my heirs, dependants, executors, and assigns.
